350 - Word Report - Why I need to carry out market research.

Word Report – Why I need to carry out market research?

A documentary for television needs to be majorly widely researched. Depending on the type or topic of the documentary. The documentary needs to reach the guidelines of the specific broadcasting channel. The documentary primarily needs to produce viewers on the channel. So you need to see what the channel shows already to get an idea of what your documentary should contain. For them to accept your proposal and to get them to give you the air time and funding for your documentary you need to adapt to their previous likings whilst looking at there most viewed shows and also meanwhile bringing something new to the table.

You need to make sure you get permission from your publishers on any decision that you do before you do it as it may go beyond your contract.
The documentary should be well revised at some viewers may find the footage distressful or offensive. You need to warn them if it is going to contain flashing images. You need to attempt to stay away from any disrespectful, racist or distasteful footage the last thing you want is the channel to be become harassed about the shows they show. Also to the reputation gained not be a bad one. Also being pressed on by the media. The worst-case scenario is being taken to court. You need to make sure to abide carefully to any laws or rules. You need the proper permission gained by the locals you are filming on. You need to care extra care for copyright laws and the data protection act.

You need to research the funds and only the necessary things you need for the documentary. As any luxuries will be of latter expense and frowned upon. Pricing for the correct equipment and be absolutely sure of what is needed. Need to hire well-known actors for the push of advertising.

As my documentary is going to be broadcasted between the times of 1900:2100 hours it need to be in the regulations suitable for a much younger audience. For the channel BBCThree it needs to be comical and work well between the shows its being broadcasted alongside.

As my documentary is only 10 minutes long I need to fit as much of the best things in and leave the unnecessary things out.
