Proposal V2

A brand new world: Crossing the Severn bridge.
BBCThree.  1x10

In the documentary I will explain the differences even though this sounds pretty basic, it isn’t. Being next-door neighbours in the United Kingdom they may as well be worlds apart. I am going to use my own experience and why I moved to Wales entwined with the differences I have found.

I am to interview different ages, ethnic and religious people who have lived in a previous place to Wales. With their views and also one of people who have lived in Wales all of their lives I am going to create the building blocks on why some rumours exist. Mainly focussing on England and Wales I do intend to include other places. I am going to have footage of the Rhondda (South Wales) and Darlington (North-east England) to display the differences. Using myself as a pinpoint I am going to evolve the documentary around my specific experiences. At first it is going to mostly differences between the two. Then gradually it will move towards the more society driven views such as economy, education, religion and politics, then a look back on the history of the two specific places to provide contrast of the two. The Documentary will contain different variations of footage. Including Archived, Animation, Reconstructions and interviews. These will all mould the story into something fun and interesting to watch instead of a list of things told in drowned manner.

The filmmaker, I, will take part in the footage. I will be the main focus of the documentary giving my views and opinions directly to the camera whenever I feel fit. I will do any narrating. Mostly I will also shoot the Film, the animation will be by me and the archived footage will be collected personally. Interviews will be Question to answer based. As in you will hear me asking the question so the audience will know directly what is going on and direct the though to the question themselves. I will interview people I know personally who have moved from other places to Wales. The animation will be made by me and included whenever and wherever. Some mocking. Some real.

The two people I am interviewing are two elderly ladies who will provide an insight on the history of the two places. One being religious and the other not. Also a few other younger people who have moved to grasp their opinion to be relevant to the younger audience.

This Film will explore the differences between the English and the Welsh. Current life styles and politics in the United Kingdom right now will affect the audience.

Data collecting

Why I need to carry out primary/secondary research both Qualitative and quantitative.

Primary data is data collected personally.
Secondary data is data collected by a previous source and used again.
Qualitative data is questions/research collected which is very open ended and free to be opinionated.
Quantitative data is questions/research collected that is very closed ended and is used to collect specific parts of data fast and in a large quantity.

I need to collect primary data to make sure is not biased is anyway and also to get updated results on my questionnaire.

I need to collect secondary data to back up the results I find on my primary data.

I need to collect qualitative data to have a broader idea of data.

I need to collect quantitative data to back up the qualitative data and have an idea of the amount of publicity entailed.

Proposal V1

The differences between the English and the Welsh.
BBCThree.  (Ten Mins approx.)

The Documentary will contain different variations of footage. Including Archived, Animation, Reconstructions and interviews. These will all mould the story into something fun and interesting to watch instead of a list of things told in drowned manner. I will visit places in both towns to compare the two.

The filmmaker, myself, will take part in the footage. I will be the main focus of the documentary giving my views and opinions directly to the camera whenever I feel fit. I will do any narrating. Mostly I will also shoot the Film, the animation will be by me and the archived footage will be collected personally. Interviews will be Question to answer based. 350 - Word Report - Why I need to carry out market research.

Word Report – Why I need to carry out market research?

A documentary for television needs to be majorly widely researched. Depending on the type or topic of the documentary. The documentary needs to reach the guidelines of the specific broadcasting channel. The documentary primarily needs to produce viewers on the channel. So you need to see what the channel shows already to get an idea of what your documentary should contain. For them to accept your proposal and to get them to give you the air time and funding for your documentary you need to adapt to their previous likings whilst looking at there most viewed shows and also meanwhile bringing something new to the table.

You need to make sure you get permission from your publishers on any decision that you do before you do it as it may go beyond your contract.
The documentary should be well revised at some viewers may find the footage distressful or offensive. You need to warn them if it is going to contain flashing images. You need to attempt to stay away from any disrespectful, racist or distasteful footage the last thing you want is the channel to be become harassed about the shows they show. Also to the reputation gained not be a bad one. Also being pressed on by the media. The worst-case scenario is being taken to court. You need to make sure to abide carefully to any laws or rules. You need the proper permission gained by the locals you are filming on. You need to care extra care for copyright laws and the data protection act.

You need to research the funds and only the necessary things you need for the documentary. As any luxuries will be of latter expense and frowned upon. Pricing for the correct equipment and be absolutely sure of what is needed. Need to hire well-known actors for the push of advertising.

As my documentary is going to be broadcasted between the times of 1900:2100 hours it need to be in the regulations suitable for a much younger audience. For the channel BBCThree it needs to be comical and work well between the shows its being broadcasted alongside.

As my documentary is only 10 minutes long I need to fit as much of the best things in and leave the unnecessary things out.
